Introduction The Chicago World Cup (CWC) promotes safe, fair and competitive soccer games. CWC efforts aim to make soccer more attractive for players and to help unification of soccer.
Spirit of the Game The CWC relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect among players!
0.1. Reading the Rulebook
1.1. The most recent edition of Chicago World Cup (CWC) rulebook is available at chicagoworldcup.com
1.2 It is the responsibility of the players and staff of any and all participating teams to know and understand the rules governing CWC-sponsored event.
1.3. If the meaning of any portion of this rulebook is unclear the simplest interpretation and the one most consistent with the body of rules is most likely the correct one Omissions are not loopholes and where examples are given they aren’t intended to be the sum of all possibilities, but simply representative samples.
1.4 All footnote notations appear at the end of the section to which they refer.
0.3. Player Waiver
3.1. All players are required to sign waiver including their full name, email, and signature.
3.2. Players that refuse to sign waiver will not be able to participate in the competition and not eligible for prices and gifts.
3.3. Complete signed roster will be used as a medial/liability release form from each player signs.
4.1. All players must be 18 years of age.
4.2. Any player that is under the age of 18 will need a parent present to sign waiver.
4.3. All players must have wristband on during the whole tournament. No exceptions.
4.4. Player caught with out a wristband during a game will be requested to leave the field
4.4. Players demonstrating inappropriate behavior or misconduct, on or around the field may cause the eviction of his team and premises.
4.5. SHIN GUARDS ARE MANDATORY. Players caught without shin guards will be asked to leave the field and will be issued a yellow card from ref.
5.1. Maximum of 12 players in team roster per event.
5.2. Players can only play in one team the day of the tournament. If a player is caught playing with another team that team will forfeit their match. NO EXCEPTIONS.
5.3. Team listed first on the game schedule is the Home Team will have choice of color.
5.4. Teams must have two sets of jerseys both different color. (Home & Away).
6.1. Substitutions are unlimited.
6.2. Substitutions can be made whenever, regardless of whether the ball is in or out of play.
6.3. Ongoing players shall stand inside the substitution area. They are not to enter the game until the player coming off has fully crossed the touchline.
6.4. In the event that a team ongoing player come onto the field prior to the leaving player have fully exited the field, incoming player will receive a yellow card and ref will give other team a free kick were game was stopped.
0.7. Game Duration
7.1. Games are 2 15-minute halves.
7.2. Halftime will consist of 1 minute.
7.3. Second half starts when ref blows his whistle for half to start.
0.8. Game Rules
8.1. FIFA rules apply except for the rules stated in the rulebook.
8.2. OFFSIDE rule does not apply in tournament.
8.3. Slide tackles are not allowed. Player penalized for slide tackle will be shown a yellow card. Play on the ground will be at the discretion of the referee.
8.4. Opponents must line up 5 yards away from all free kicks.
8.5. All free kicks are direct.
8.7. Ball can go backwards at kickoff.
8.8. Per FIFA regulations, if the team in possession of the ball does not ask for distance, kicks can be played without waiting ref to blow whistle to restart game.
8.9. Referee has the final say on any and all “on field” calls, goals, discipline, and ejections.
8.10. Yellow Cards and Red Cards will be issued if fouls and descent towards referee.
8.11. Players that are sent off will have to leave the field and will be suspended for the next game. NO EXCEPTIONS. Flagrant fouls will not be tolerated and will lead to player eviction from the tournament.
8.12. CWC has a zero tolerance policy towards referee abuse. Serious verbal abuse or assault will be evicted from the tournament and will have to leave the premises.
0.9 Tournament Format
9.1. Teams will earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for tie, and 0 points from lost. 0.10. Tie Breaker Procedure

0.11. Knockout Stage
11.1. Winner advances to the next round.
11.2. If game is still tied in regular time game will have one 5 minute extra time Golden Goal.
11.3 After extra time game is still tied game will be decided in penalty shootout using FIFA penalty shootout rules.
12.1. Each captain is responsible for the behavior of his team players and supporters. Any players, captains, or spectators demonstrating inappropriate behavior or misconduct, on or around the field may cause the eviction of his team.

13.1. Organizers may update the rules above at any time. Team captains will be informed of any changes.
